EZ TO BE YOU
x SW FREDDY
THE ART
The piece was something that felt like all my worlds collided, cruising, enjoying music, a Detroit summer night all meshed into what BREEZE Canna stands for... freedom of expression and that’s why I included BREEZE Canna in graffiti. Graffiti to me is the ultimate form of EZ to be you... I think it’s my favorite thing that allows me to enjoy making art so much. Often big jobs require so many restraints and rules and having graffiti a part of my life has always let me just be myself through color!
The sugar skulls are a representation of my Mexican heritage. Lowriding is also very present in Detroit and I just wanted to represent it in my work! I wanna thank the BREEZE Canna team for all the trust and freedom to be myself, I hope they continue to invest in more artists!

THE JOURNEY
Freddy’s creative process is just as inspiring as the final piece. Explore behind-the-scenes moments and see how his vision came to life.

THE ARTIST

With a graffiti background dating back to 2005, Freddy is an internationally renowned artist known for his versatility across murals, canvas, sculpture, and clothing. Rooted in graffiti art, SW Freddy began as a way to enhance his community—building a platform and fostering relationships with both local and international business owners.
Over the years, SW Freddy has been able to tie into the corporate market as well as the art gallery culture.
Freddy Diaz was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1992 to a first-generation family in the United States. With parents who migrated to Detroit, he was deeply motivated to succeed. Growing up, his parents worked multiple jobs to make ends meet, placing pressure on him to choose a career path after high school. "I never thought I could make a living off of art," says Freddy. Attending Detroit public schools made it difficult to envision a future as an artist, but when he began taking on small projects for local businesses in Southwest Detroit, his path became clear. "Every business owner was different, each ran things their own way, and the beauty of my job was that I got to take a page from every owner's book and apply it to my own. It was like going to business school for free," says Diaz.
With the help of the community, Freddy has been able to branch out to work with Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Google, and Adidas while deepening his roots within Detroit. He's managed to continue his passion in enhancing the Detroit community for legacy Detroiters and visitors alike. Freddy's art lives vibrantly throughout Italy, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and the continental United States.
Although he is known for his graffiti background he is always open to applying new mediums and changing his process. "Every project is different so I try to learn from each one and take as much as I can give to each." No matter the medium his work tends to share a story and he hopes to inspire the next generation of creatives in Southwest Detroit and all around the world.
